Title: Making a model double the size.
Post by: trelawney on January 09, 2017, 11:28:22 am
Can I take plans of a steam launch, multiply all dimensions by TWO say for a double size working model, or is there more to it than that ?

Thanks

Yes, pretty much correct. You will have to be aware of material thicknesses on your plan. Also the displacement will go up by eight. Length x beam x depth.

Remember not to double up everything or you will finish up with slot joints twice as thick as intended materials.

I doubled up Dave Millbournes  Huntsman to 46inchs,  I took the plans to a firm that doubled the size and then using tippex and pen redrew the slots and joints and finished up with a lovely boat.

Regards and good luck Glyn
