just read the instructions for a viper ESC, it states:
"Make sure your motor is fitted with two motor capacitors (0.1uf) one from each terminal to the can."
My motor is a speed 400, but from its data sheet I can see no mention of these being factory fitted, and they are certainly not visible anywhere. So do I need to fit them? If they are for suppression then as I am using 2.4 Ghz I wasn't going to bother.
Clarification would be most helpful, as I do not have any and would need to purchase some.
Kind regards, Glyn.

It does help to remove 'glitches' occurring, as it smooths out spikes caused by the motor.

Hi Glyn it is advisable to fit these capacitors to the motor terminals and the motor can and one across both terminals making 3 in total. Many years ago also a earth wire from the motor can to the prop shaft.Any generated interference from the motor would go straight to earth.P/M sent to you if you wish will send you 3 capacitors

Good practice as Stan says.
Unsuppressed motors may not interfere with
2G4, but other pond/lake users may be on 27
or 40 megs and you could interfere with them.
Good Practice and Good Manners :-))

HI Glyn I gave posted a picture showing how the caps are soldered to motor can. You will need a very hot iron to carry out this operation. The capacitor in the middle is fixed between the motor terminals.

Ok Guys many thanks as always.
I like to be polite so I'll get on with it soonest. Thanks for the picture Stan, most helpful. Thanks for the offer as well, but I have a pal who will have some, I'm not in any particular hurry.
Thanks again.
Glyn.
