Am building a bulk carrier based on a Deans Marine Mouldings hull. I would like to get a complete drive line - motor, propeller shaft and propeller - that "work" together - motor axle should match propeller shaft etc etc.
Propeller should be diameter 70 mm, 5-bladed. Propeller shaft should be water lubricated, sealed and same diameter as the motor axle. Motor: high torque, low speed, 12 V. Speedcontroller to mtach . The modell is 175 cm long, 32 cm wide and torque is more important than speed so the motor should preferably do something like 3500 - 5000 rpm.
Have no ideas abt brushless motors or not - what I want is a motor that can be run for extended periods of time without burning...
Have been recomended to use a car fan motor but that will most probably mean the motor axle has to be modified to match the propeller shaft.
Open for suggestions!!

Contact mmm ( mobile marine models) details in the traders section on this site. The T 6 and T 12 motors are ideal for your model. They will sell you a shaft and coupling to match.

The most common couplers are modular. You get an end to fit the motor shaft, an end to fit the prop shaft, and whatever bits you want to join the two, usually a splined universal joint. Otherwise, you shop around to find one with the required hole sizes. There is no real need for bot motor and prop shafts to be the same diameter.

Strongly recommend the MMM T12. An extremely well built motor with loads of torque. I have three of them in various tugs and freighters and love them. If that seems a bit small there is always their BF24. Not cheap compared with other motors on the market but when you look at what the boat will probably cost don't penny pinch.
