I gave it a full 6 mins at full throttle to check reliability.
No drop off in power but the motor is almost too hot to touch, the battery is hot and the battery wires hotter yet the ESC is not
I can see why these races are only 4 mins plus lap finishing seconds.
My test was without hatch and cabin fitted and I'm thinking maybe some air flow could be introduced as even when capsized water won't go up hill without a punctured hull

Maiden voyage went superbly this morning and a good 10 minutes (3300) before speed was noticeably slowing.
I've just bought these for a trial, anyone tried them?

Does the club have a battery capacity limit
for racing?.
We use Comp Shop 3300's in the club boats
so everyone is as equal as we can make it.

As I understand the rules the limit is only on voltage (7.2) and battery type (NiMH) . Capacity only serves to lengthen running time rather than increase power. So if you bought one of these purely for entertaining your grandkids the higher capacity is more desirable.
I also believe that reducing the percentage of discharge is beneficial to the lifespan of a battery. So a 50% discharge is better than running flat.

Edit given that races are 4 mins plus lap finishing seconds either 3300 or 5000 will not drop off in anywhere near that time so 3300 is spot on if fitting a new battery for each round

Anyone really serious would fit a fresh battery for each round anyway. :-)) I don't think the rules prohibit changing the battery.
IMHO only price is the limiting factor and at £17 5000 is a no brainer if they are for real

I must say the servo is bang on too. Ordered direct from China can be as little as 99p each. Club together and buy 10 at a time :-))

I'm very happy to answer any technical questions for anyone who wants to build one. Given my limited knowledge I can only speak of my own method.
I've used epoxy for the stern tube, rudder support, equipment shelf and stern tube front support.
I used the official alignment tool and found the best way to facilitate this was to separate the front support from the motor mount and fix as two separate tasks.
My motor mount is sat on Sikaflex 512 as it actually needs quite a lift to be in perfect line.
I also used 512 to attach the deck to the hull.
The grommet strip around the deck is perfect but I sourced it from work so cannot say where you might obtain it other than electrical wholesalers.
I'm already planning a second build

They are great fun and cheap.
Ours stay in the water between races
so no battery swaps.
Each club has it's own rules.
The boats and batterys were purchased
by the club and can have different drivers
each time we race.
Boats are drawn out of the hat so the fastest
if there is one gets rotated between members.
Just our way !

Interesting but doesn't that take away the individual pride of your build
Prop alignment alone is a major consideration so I don't think I'd be happy driving just anything.
Wouldn't work in Formula one just imagine Hamiltons face {-)
Also who is responsible for upkeep and maintainence of these anonymous craft? Do they all have their own radio or is a session of binding required.
I really think I prefer my own boat

A lot of our members would never build a semi fast electric boat, as they are modellers not racers
We have hundreds of families passing our launch
point every weekend and we thought we would
entetain them.
The kids want FAST not superb models and yachts
sailing gracefully. We give the passersby a bit of
a laugh as none of us are experts at racing but
we may get one or two kids interested and that
is what our hobby is all about

About time we had a national Club 500 competition, so many clubs racing them around the country. Wicksteed could be the ideal time & place.

Club500 purchasing tips.
Unfortunately the web shop is not sophisticated enough to process multiple items and adjust postage accordingly.
Best solution I have found is to compile a list of what you require in note pad whilst referring to the ordering page then copy and paste it into a text to their mobile number. I sent my list yesterday Sunday and received my PayPal invoice before the end of today. Job done easy peezy :-))

Why brushed motors and nimmhs surely brushless and lipos is the way to go ,prices of brushless motors etc isnt high nowadays.

T33, these things fly, submerge, do flips and all manor of aerobatics, some in our club say that they have see a race with all the competitors finishing!!! but i think this is a vicious rumor.

Had a good blast this morning and the 5000mah batteries have checked out ok so ordered another 2 :-))
That equates to £20.75p each delivered. I also expect the performance will improve after a few charge cycles.

I got to the pond before 8 am today and had a right good long session with both boats and 4 batteries. I learnt a lesson though as My B boat was dead in the water due to my transmitter battery going flat {-)
Meanwhile I feel the need to try everything and just ordered a Joysway Dragonforce 8)

I'm on holiday near Brid
Yesterday I tried it in a beach pool left by the tide.
Today I put it in the sea and it performs superb. No fear of capsize and goes airborne over the breakers. Great fun and I may try a LiPo for non competition on solo days
