could you tell me and others please where it is held. is it on the marine lake on the sea front, or elsewhere.

I came up many years ago to the "lifeboat" weekend with an old friend called John and it was at the far end of the lake in a little "bay". Is it still held there.

if not could you give us a postcode or directions please to the venue.

Jim.

A starting time would be good too

Not sure but i think it's at PR8 1SA... marine lake, or is it Hesketh Park...PR9 9LR?

What's the parking like? not been before.

Postcodes are 'approx'... i think  :embarrassed:

have done but the post code on google maps shows Ho Lee Chow Chinese restaurant at that position with the nearest lake up near marine parade off Victoria Way and the web page for smbc doesn't give a time of sailing on their open day, only normal Sunday sailing time.........hardly helpful to travellers.

was she the old sailing ship that was housed up at the museum at IRVINE in Scotland, and transported back to Australia by barge for restoration.

how is that restoration going these days.

No Jim....Rotten Row was the water side home of the decommissioned HMAS Melbourne...built as HMA Majestic.....then flogged off to OZ

Our Rotten Row had nothing to do with the Sydney Fish Markets or the Flemington Fresh Fruit Markets.......but then you wouldn't recognise these names would you  {-)

Hi just a quick post hoping we both get good weather for our summer open days. Sadly every year these dates seem to clash.

hi all at Southport, my mate neil came down yesterday with his new model and asked me just to post a thankyou for the warm welcome he received on your open day yesterday, and asked me to copy a post he put onto another forum earlier. I think it says it all about the numpty he is, {-) {-)

"I'll start with my totally embarrassing morning down at Southport model boat club's open day.................took the new Jupiter for a sail, and due to my ineptitude and incompetence which resulted in me not being able to manage hand eye co ordination on two simple spinning devices.........my model just wouldn't go any other way but round in circles..............it was like watching a dog chase it's own tail, never being able to catch it..........

looks like I am going to need a lot of practice if I'm not going to embarrass myself in front of the Scottish contingent on the bonny bonny banks of the Clyde at Largs in 3 weeks time.

to say the skipper was drunk, might be pushing it..........but it sure looked like it.

how can managing two little spinning bits of machinery be sooooooh difficult to work cohesively.

it's no wonder our ladies say we can't multi task!!!!!.....and sadly I didn't have a 3rd hand to take any photos with a camera......sorry, maybe next time lol.

However......the resident members took my stupidity in their stride.......and quietly laughed to themselves......a goodly bunch of chaps and ladies.............I did come away with a prize though.............NO!, not for my model or even seaman-ship.........a bar of Toblerone on the roll a ball stall...........better than any cup..........I can eat it, lol."
:embarrassed: :embarrassed:

WHAT!!!!!???

From what he tells me, Derek. he was weaned on Boddingtons bitter at a tender age, and although he doesn't go out much these days, preferring to have a bottle of beer watching TV, he never drinks anything under 5% poof.......he says it's so much like water under that %proof that fishes copulate in it as it's near enough water.......nah!!!

I do believe also that he is one of the only poms in the world that has never had a cup of tea or coffee.

But he does bang on regularly about his favourite tipple and topping..... Castlemaine 4X and Vegemite what ever those are. Also what's this drink called milo that he says he enjoyed so much. was that alcoholic? I guess so,lol.

thanks for that..........very interesting reading. I would have thought it older than that, possibly dating back to the days of the Black Death or the Great Plague of 1665 where they buried mass bodies by the roadside, but how wrong was I. cheers.
