I currently use a Planet T5 to run my boats and have a handful of receivers buying them as see them. However with Planet Equipment becoming rarer and rarer I begun to think about getting a fall back Transmitter/Receiver set up but as my Planet is still going strong I don't want to spend a fortune and get an all singing dancing flight transmitter with a million channels, program memory etc.
So I have been searching the pages of Ebay for a budget system with affordable receivers. One that comes up quite often is the Spektrum DX5e. at about £60
Is it any good for sailing boats??

Yes. And if you look for Orange or Lemon receivers, they are cheaper than Spektrum. However, depending on the age of the 5e, it may only support DSM2 not DSMx, so check the receivers carefully.

Or try one of these , new as opposed to used . We have quite a few in the club ( I have two myself) and they are excellent sets for boat use. Also, if anything goes wrong with your Spektrum, it would have to be returned to their repair centre in Germany as they have closed their UK base

I can certainly endorse the Flysky (or its Turnigy brother). This is what I use for most of my boats. My Spektrum is only used for miniature boats as there is a very small DSM2 compatible receiver that works well and saves a lot of space :-))

Usefully cheap

I have the FlySky fs-i6s with FS-iA10B receiver, but it doesn't seem to like the Action electronics, or vice-versa. Anybody got any thoughts on this?

Thanks Guys, on your recommendation I think I'm going to go with a new FlySky at half the cost of a SH Spektrum as it seems perfectly suitable for the limited need of RC boat control ok2
