Our club insurance is due for renewal in October. Been speaking to other clubs about how much they pay and got figures of £80 to £250. They are reasonable. Got hone from deans weekend and a pile of insurance quotes were waiting.
Now we have to have £5000000 cover as ee operate off a council lake. Club membership is no more than 100 members. Taking this into account, last year we paid £460. Renewal this year is £640!!!!!!!
I understand that the tax has gone up, but this is now in fairy land for clubs. While we can afford this, it will not be long before the club would be broke. Had 2 other quotes in the same price range as well. Still some quotes to come in so here's hoping!
Any insurance guys out there?????

A good number of people join the Scottish federation of model boat clubs for the insurance.
It's £15/club to be affiliated then £3/member for insurance
So for 100 people that would be £315
There are a good number of clubs that do it that are not Scottish :-))

just an update on this.
£5,000,000 third party liability
able to sail on any water at events as a club
third party hall hire cover
100 member limit
model steam engine coverage
all for the princely sum of £178 per year 2018/2019
now the bad bit......
the company will not be taking any other clubs on under scheme as it is not available anymore, but they will honour any existing members!
