My normal way of building hulls is to create a skeleton not unlike a model aircraft, this then sheeted with 1/64 ply and covered with fibreglass matt and resin coated inside.  Works for me.


My last two build have used fibre glass hulls so not needed to buy ply, however next project was going to be scratch and still will be but going to need new covering material, the ply now comes in at £36 hence the ouch!!

Yes I agree Ouch!  Decent timber and ply now costs an arm and a leg, the last plank on frame that I built Was a 54” tug. And the 3mm x 10mm lime planks cost over £100 alone.
