First attempt at a full scratch build, a 32" Downeast / Lobster boat style hull in ply, to be built to my own design as a picnic / fun boat. Have acquired an MFA Torpedo 500 and a 40mm 4 blade Raboesch prop, 175 series I think. Hoping to run direct drive. Any advice on battery size voltage and Mah to get a turn of speed if required and a reasonable run time. Lipo preferably as I have a 2/3 cell charger from a previous project. TX

I use a 12v 7Ah SLA in my Sea Queen, which planes quite nicely. These motors can call for <13 Amps, so for a decent run you will need a big capacity battery.

TX for your input Dougal. Dont really have enough room for a big SLA as the rear of hull has no depth. Had been considering 2 x 11.1v lipos in parallel to get between 4000 / 6000 mah. which could fit each side of hull in forward third of hull. PDF attached of drawings used in basic hull construction to see restrictions
