Title: TUG LED's

Just had the LED lighting kit turn up for my tug from MMM.

I am right in thinking that the positive one is the longer spur, and the one the resister gets connected too?

Just don't keep the soldering iron in contact for long,the led's object to too much heat!  8)
The results are worth it though, here is the mast for a small German lifeboat I am building, all led's ablaze! ;D

They aren't as bright in real life, it's the digital camera slightly over exposing as the picture was taken without any other light source.
I always use one resistor per led, I know it can be done in other ways but I am a great believer in KISS ( keep it simple stupid!!).
All the wires are inside the mast and exit from the bottom, the original fitting in the Graupner kit was solid plastic so I built a copy but hollow, all the negative leads are then joined into  a single wire and then each positive wire is taken to a switch bank and then to the battery to allow individual light control.

I use brass for masts, then solder negative to mast and make it negative return, it saves on wires in the mast, some mast won't take a +ve and -ve for each light any way, +ve go to individual switches. Negative to bottom of mast.
