A question please for the brushless gurus. I would very much like to convert my old 34" Precedent Huntsman (glassfibre hull) to brushless power and have a spare Turnigy 36-39 1100kv outrunner and 60A ESC.. Would this motor be too powerful running on 3s LiPos with an appropriate prop.? I would prefer to use the 3s batteries which I already have to save on expenses.

From what I've gleaned about brushless motors the kv is a little on the high side but not manically so and so is quite a good choice for the Huntsman.
You don't have to use full throttle! And using the 3S on lower throttle settings should give you longer run times.

I'm currently running a Thumper V3 3530 / 14 1100Kv outrunner & its fine on a 40x prop, sounds good too , check my Fantasy Huntress in this section . .

Hi Shadysadie
I am running a 3648-1450kv on 3S with a 60Amp ESC and a 2 blade 40mm CNC prop.
I was going to put a 3639-1100kv in my 34" Huntsman, but, I had a spare 1450kv.
The boat handles either motor and will zip along very well.

Thanks canabus, I also have a spare 60A car ESC so it looks like all systems go!

Hi Shadysadie
If the ESC is the Hobbyking HK-60A SL and you have the program card.
I can post the settings we use for it.
The only setting we change after that, is if you go to 4S.

Hi canabus.
My ESC is the Hobbyking HK-60A "QUIK" series with reverse. I have the program card and I will not be going above 3S but is this a different ESC to the SL?
Thanks, David.

Hi Shadysadie
The "Quik series" are different to the Hobbyking HK series.
The 60 Amp (part Number HK-60A SL) with handle 2-4S batteries.
Also the HK 45 and 100 use the same program card.
I think the 30 Amp would , but, I have not used one.
Our club guys use the same ESC and have had no problems with them.
