Hi,

Found these two motors in an old hull, wondered if anyone knew what they were 6v or 12v and spec.

Got a pair of them myself think they are 12v

If they are the motors I am thinking of on 12 volt they are ESC killers, drawing horrendous currents. It would be worth a current check under a little load to check.
On 6 volts fine about 7-9000 rpm.

Looks like a typical 540/550 can motor as fitted to Club 500 boats.

38mm dia @ shaft end, 35.75mm dia @ brushes end, 65mm length (mounting face to backplate)
6v to 12v - don't have the current ratings but runs OK with 7.2v NiMh racepack !
same markings on backplate : "PAT PEND" and a Johnson logo

Will sort out a photos if you need them.

Yep, don't run them on 12v unless you are clever like me ( 14.4v but through reduction gearboxes, clever!! ), NOT NOT NOT 12v direct drive. 6v/7.2v on about 35mm props is fine though, just fast.


By the way...not 12v, don't care what the spec says, it's wrong...and I'm not..don't you miss Mr Milbourne??!

Thanks for info, thought they might be amp guzzlers. think I will look for something different in my Type 22.

1/96? Go with a pair of MFAs RE540LN motors, about a tenner each. 6v to 9.6v.


1/72? Go with a pair of Jotikas CEM900T motors, about £28 each. 12v.
