Title: L Plate Special
Post by: Hotglove on July 19, 2018, 06:41:28 pm
I originally posted in Wants etc, looking for a simple rugged boat to learn the basics of RC boating with.
Tim Garrod was kind enough to provide a Robbe Turo with brushless conversion, but the model was a bit dark coloured and might have been a bit lost in the shadier parts of the lake.
I thought of various colour schemes (using paint and bits that I already had to keep costs down) and eventually decided on a light-hearted tribute to the RAF in their Centenary Year (my brother, father-in-law and brother-in-law served in the RAF)
Just need to get her on the water this weekend and commence learning :-)

Oops! the pilot seems to be flying inverted, shouldn't have given him that Red Arrows uniform.

Had the boat on the lake today, absolutely perfect, stable, agile and very quiet, exactly what I wanted, totally different in character from my Dumas 1930 The Turo can do a figure of eight inside the turning circle of the Dumas.
One is like a big, heavy 4 seat convertible with a 6ltr V12, the other like a Caterham 7
Spent the morning wandering round the lake with a large and silly grin on the face.

Just another update on what is becoming a much loved possession, this boat is so manoeuvrable it really is great fun, has now acquired some new dentures and a tiara  :-)
