Put the multimeter probes on a positive and negative pinout on the Rx, with the battery plugged in on a separate channel. Have you connected a servo in to see if you get movement there?

first off disconnect everything from the receiver. I NEVER mind when speed controllers are connected. second attach 1 x servo to rudder slot. 3rd put in bind plug in correct slot. 4th attach a 4.8v or 6v battery to any other slot tgen go through the bind sequence.  this is the direct route. ensure all leads attached the rx are the correct way round before attaching battery! if you go through a speed controller and that has a fault you can be head scratching! if when you attach the battery it flashes all is well. bind it. if when you attach the esc tgen tgen esc is blown.

No movement on servo, just red light on ESC

Turn on esc then bind button then transmitter.
Red light on esc signifies no signal.
