Title: Chinese Gas Regulators
Post by: Propslip on December 29, 2018, 06:56:18 pm

Are these Chinese P5 & P5B gas regulators any good. Has anyone got any experience of them?

Bonjour Propslip,
I have several double diaphram regulators and one single. No problem with them, I have just enhanced the double diaphragm one like this  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aU37YAuOkKM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aU37YAuOkKM) tested here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc8bITIar2U (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc8bITIar2U) and here is the single one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhpJoPB0eAY (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhpJoPB0eAY)
Jin has always answered to people who had problems with diaphragms and changed their quality (personally, I repair mine by using 0,5 mm nitrile sheets).
I much prefer double diaphragm regulators because they are quite smoother than the single ones.
However, I have to confess that I prefer JMC double diaphragm regulators, much more expensive but they worti it, example :

Very interesting rhavrane. Thank you for sharing these videos. But where can I buy this JMC regulator? I tried to find the seller in internet but couldn't find any.

Bonjour Moxis,
In France, we have two high quality manifacturers who use metric measures : I know an like both of them, I mentioned JMC but Anton is also great, I am sure you know him. They sell the same products for gas, but JMC prefers 6 x 0.75 mm threads for 3 mm pipes and vavlves when Anton prefers 5 x 0.50 mm threads.
Here is two of my Anton steam plants : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42f1uoF22NU  and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rw7LilKb7uw
And a JMC one : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPt0ouL8kzc

Bonjour,
In addition to my previous message I may not update, Anton prefers 2 mm pipes for his gas lines.
And please forgive the mistakes due to a too quick typing on the keyboard.

Thanks rhavrane. Yes, I know already the Anton, but JMC is new for me. I am asking this because I have completed my Marcher steam engine a few weeks ago, and soon I must install it to my ship hull together with all components. And I want to install also the steam pressure controller, so JMC looks very promising.

Hi
JMC http://www.jmc-vapeur.fr/Presentation/index.html (http://www.jmc-vapeur.fr/Presentation/index.html)
I use https://www.forest-classics.co.uk/
 (https://www.forest-classics.co.uk/)
I also use 4mm copper pipe for the gas, it transfers a lot of cold away from the tank and helps stop freezing
I cant see the Attenuator on the foresy website but they make their own and they are very good - give them a call

Thank you all very much for your input. This will help me to make an informed choice for a regulator for the steam plant I was asking about in a previous thread.
