Post by: TIGER on October 28, 2019, 01:41:27 pm
Hi sorry to bother everyone, I have a little steam plant in my tug runs lovely but whilst running it has the most annoying whistle coming from the chimney, I've tried changing the length of the chimney but with no luck. someone did mentioned to me to try and drill a small hole in the chimney but i have no idea how big the hole should be and where. any help would be great, thanks in advance. Bonjour,
This issue is not common but not uncommon either and a little thing changes everything. On some boilers, we solved the problem by moving forward or bakward the burner.

Not obvious if your Cheddar boiler is like mine with a ceramic burner: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPygTu9z8tk&t=29s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPygTu9z8tk&t=29s)

Before piercing anything perhaps could you try to move a little but backward the burner by removing its blocking screw to give you an opinion of what happens.

Other possibilites, increase the gas flow by gently heating the gas tank or move the jet to change a little the air/gas mix.
