Hi can anybody tell me what brushless motors and ESC I can use in my Speedline Tamar Lifeboat. I am also asking what small motors are used in the radar on the Tamar. Thanks in advance

This is Courtesy of Steve Ryan. This is the model slipway 1:16 version but shows it's doable especially with your skills
Component shop do a tiny motor too but without seeing the physical size of yours I don't know if it will fit? very cheap too

Here two motors for size comparison
I think the left one is too big but the right one could be made to fit

Thanks Andy for this I will look into the smaller of the 2 geared motors, Have used the other type in my Shannon.

Hi MK1
I use these motors on all my warships and my Shannon.

Interesting Dave. I see it is rated at 3volts and quite fast. What voltage is required to come down to sub 30 rpm? My Shannon uses the no longer available horizontal motor that fits in the T section but The Tamar has no concealment below the level of the radar body unfortunately otherwise I'd send John one of them

I've just set up the £3.50 component shop motor and 1.4volts is about 30rpm 1.3volts is about right for a Shannon and it still functions at 1.1volts which is the lowest the regulator will go down to.

A friend on Shannon facebook just suggested a 1.2 volt battery. That might actually be perfect without a regulator :-))
Late EDIT I've just timed it at 25rpm on 1.2 volt rechargeable so a very tiny bit slow but close enough to lowest of radar speed range
-
The one I use is the DCGear motor 206-108 see the revised link
https://www.precisionmicrodrives.com/product-catalogue/dc-gearmotor (https://www.precisionmicrodrives.com/product-catalogue/dc-gearmotor)
I run them on 3volts and under load the radar rpm is 6-7 rpm
-
:-)) very good
Looks like they also sell the same one as components shop but I doubt it's £3.50

Video of 1/16 scale Speedline Shannon radar running on 1.2volts
using Component Shop Micro-P motor.
