Title: Navigation lights and extras?

Hi and a belated Happy New Year to all!
Can anyone advise whet the extra lights are for on the foremast of the attached?

Obviously the picture above is an armed trawler from wartime but different rules applied then

Hi Ray, it's that which is confusing!
She's 41m so would fall under whatever the (pre-metric) rules were during WW1. The lights don't tie in with fishing rules, nor do they tie in with mine sweeping or at least current versions of the same and they're on fixed mounts rather than on lines. Plus she only appears to show one stern light.
I know it's a bit picky.......................... :D
Can you spot whether the lowest lamp is offset to stbd or in line? My perspective doesn't work!

It appears to be offset Tony but difficult to say for sure  :(( .
Might find more info when the dog's had his walk...

Hi Tony, seems she is showing standard lights for a vessel under 150ft, that small black object on the mainmast yardarm looks like a wind speed and direction unit. Had one like it on the old Goldeneye, linked by electric cable to a brass read out in the wheelhouse, would be sighted there to get free air flow with no influence. Though naval recognition signals I do not have much info, but suspect on a old basic small vessel like her it would be manually hoisted on the yardarm signal halyard. Looks a very interesting vessel, backbone of the RN did most jobs. Read of one that took on and sank a surfaced U-boat off the East African coast, every ship in Gibraltar cheered her on return.
