Todays question is about electrics
I am planning ahead on my build, and making sure I consider and allow for anything that will need fitting, for example main On/Off switch
Is there a link, diagram, explanation of all the wiring parts and where they connect to so that I can allow for them in my design
It might be that I need to have a mounting point for something before I seal the interior for example

Hi Dave Here's a typical lay out of what you would expect to find in a r/c boat , motor, ESC, (electronic speed controller), rudder servo, RX, (receiver) and of course batteries. ESC's have two large wires that connect to the motor and a small lead that plugs into the receiver along with the servo the small lead also powers the receiver, that's about it in a nut shell , ho yes, the on/off switch comes already wired to the ESC.

Can anyone post images of their springer internals so I can try to follow and understand the wiring and equipment they have used?

Here's the inside of my Springer. No separate Rx battery pack, since I used the battery eliminator circuit (BEC) in the ESC. I have two 6 VDC SLA batteries, mounted on their sides on platforms and velcroed in place. Batteries are wired in parallel. No extra ballast needed.
My rudder servo is under the aft deck, out of sight in these photos.
And you may notice the labels showing 2 different fuse sizes. That's because I put in a (larger) Graupner motor when towing, and a Dumas motor for running free.

I'll add mine, although it is probably atypical of most Springers, and probably not how I would do it if I was doing it again. First, a shot into the innards -

The receiver is lying on the deck and there is no battery fitted. You can see the motor and rudder servo, and the Mtroniks speed controller on the right, with the battery cables disapperaing off shot. There is a connecting block for the cables under the deck right up the front, and it and the ESC are mounted on a ply plate which can be removed by undoing two screws. I fitted two longitudinal rails to strengthen the balsa bottom planks, and the servo and ply plate are mounted on these. The coil of wiring at the top of the picture is for lights and you can ignore that.
Because this was a "make it up as you go along" design, I ended up with the battery slung from a removable plate over the motor. Here's what it looks like fitted -

As I said, not typical, but it works for me. Hope it helps!
