As obviously we haven’t been able to sail as often this year the last couple of weekends we have been sailing some of the models not often taken out on the water.
This is a scratch build by fellow club member Tony Newstead as part of his Japanese 1/128 scale fleet. Even in this scale it’s 65 inches long- the same as a 1/96 scale HMS Dreadnought!

Is this the same model I saw at Mayhem in 2007?

Looks good on the water and also nice to able to sail if only briefly. But looking at the news I fear the start of 2021 may see some very harsh decisions that may affect our hobby once again.

Hi Colin
I believe it is, Tony sold it to a club member a few years back as it was rather large and heavy for him. When the club member moved to Cornwall a couple of years ago he offered it to me knowing how much it meant to Tony. I bring it out for him so he can sail it when he likes.

Hi Stan
It certainly is, I wish I could take credit for the model but now just a proud sailor of it. I fear you maybe right but we will continue to sail until we get told to stop.

it's a beauty. 8)

Beautiful! Go easy handling her ammo, she did not have a great track record in that area.

Very nice indeed!

I'm not overly keen on services models but I have to admit the detail that's gone into that is very impressive :-))
