Title: Quarter Bitts Mounting

Here I am again, asking questions.......
Does anyone have any insight or photos of how the quarter bitts were mounted on the old wooden steam tugs? I've seen a host of photo's where these were mounted just forward and just aft of the deckhouse, attached to the bulwarks, but all of the images were taken from outboard and I've yet to see any of the inboard side. Were there top and bottom plates? Were they bolted to waster pieces on the deck? Cast as units, or made up of parts?

I should think the the bitts extended down through the deck and was attached to or were extended frames. Because of the weight put on them when towing, on the wooden Thames barges, the forward bitts extend down into the bottom frames and beefed up with the deck frames.
