Title: Music on air
Post by: Sven on May 04, 2021, 07:03:30 pm
Hello,

some times I'm listening to "Oldies Paradies" via internet. The local radiostations are not that kind I'm looking for, they will play same song 4 times a day and that all week long and most of songs  are german language or spanish or eat european. That does not mean I'm only listening to oldies but what kind of radiostation you can tell me to hear new english songs ????

Hi, when I'm at my apartment in France "internetradiouk.com" keeps me sane.  I listen to radio 4 and world service since they ditched proper broadcasts but it has the other UK stations on it also.

No worries, your welcome! I found it on Google early days.  It had a blip last month where they wouldn't broadcast on my android devices but very happy to say despite their warnings at the time normal service seems resumed.  There's bound to be other sites, I just never looked any further to be honest. Its been a while since I've been able to get back now (sore point), but I also find way more things to watch / listen to on YouTube than back home.  Allot of stuff seems blocked here but slips through outside.

...must admit I'm not good in French radio. I only hear it in taxis etc.  and it makes me want to get to my destination so much quicker!

PS I only listen to it on wi-fi so I don't know what data usage is like!  My phone annoyingly doesn't have an FM radio -absolutely crazy for a modern phone to miss that basic function but I'm told by the youfs it's normal to pay for radio now than listen to broadcasts!

We listen to Greatest Hits Radio on DAB as all our favourites have been amalgamated in to other stations. When I get get fed up I switch to my collection of Doctor Who audiobooks!

Radio Sunlight is a Community Station based in Gillingham in Kent uk.
Online only as the costs for a FM license thingy is out of our budget.
All presenters are Volunteers, and I am one of them, I present the Lonesome Len show on Fridays from 2 until 4pm ( at the moment ) playing easy listening Music from the 50s to the 70s also have some Quiz Questions and waffle on about all sorts of stuff including Hobbies.

Hi everyone

Anyone remember the good pirate radio back in the 60s 70s Radio 270 off the Bridlington coast and  Radio Nordsea International a Dutch and English speaking station and Caroline may be the most well known

Heavens yes, I used to be a hard-over Radio London (Big L) fan until it was forced to close in '67, a sad day. :(

The Beeb's launch of Radio 1 a couple of weeks later wasn't anywhere near as good, not for a long time anyway.

Hi kitS.

Could not agree more it was Radio 270 for me anchored of Bridlington it use to dock in Scarborough harbour for repairs. When Tony Benn pulled the plug on the pirates it finished up in Whitby harbour eventually it  was broken up after no byer could be found. I would love to make a model of her when time allows

Another online alternative is Pandora, free on demand. After a while it learns your preferences, and then starts making suggestions as to what else you might like. A great way to hear new tunes, as well as some that have been forgotten.

I have just subscribed to Planet Rock Premium. Available online or through an App or a Smart Speaker (Alexa as well). For a mere £3.99/month it strips out all the advertisements and allows you to skip up to six tracks every hour. There are 20 Rock channels to choose from at any time. There is a very short break for some news, occasionally, but you can skip to the next track and kill the news as well.
Bl**dy brilliant. I crank it up through my phone app to a decent bluetooth speaker and also online via my PC.
My dream come true.
I've often remarked that if only Planet Rock offered a service like this that I would be in there like a shot.
Go on, any rockers out there ? Check it out !
You have a 7 days free trial and you can cancel your subscription at any time, if required.
