Hi everyone, I have a rttl raf launch that was built by my father in 1960.I wish to put an electric motor into her and refurbish the boat,
I have an MFA 800 motor available.Would this be suitable and if so can anyone suggest a batterry pack and speed controller. The boat was originally built as single screw to be powered by ic.Thank you

This is a good size launch 41 inch long. My one runs on an Italian make car accessory motor 12v , rather sedate.
I use a 9.6v nimh vapex battery pack from Component Shop with a 40amp mtroniks speed controller from Howes models, on offer.
Total cost of two items approx £75.

Thanks for the info Nordlys,my boat is from a Vic Smeed plan and is 34ins long.

Hi, wasn't aware of an RTTL model being 34 inch length however, you have one!
I would say then that your 800mfa motor would be more than adequate although I'm not familiar with the rpm of this motor.

Edit. You may even find that a 30amp mtroniks esc would be big enough.for the smaller boat.

Sorry, my models are the RSL launch not rttl! Getting all mixed up here!
My apologies.
