If it were a standard USN issue, surely there is an earlier version of this https://maritime.org/doc/boatcat/index.htm as a source?

Remember?...yes....one of the best photographic examples of the old 3 cylinder Compound steam engine slowly rotation as recorded....could watch it for hours  O0
