Title: SPOOKY !!! ( Lesro Javelin )
Post by: canabus on August 28, 2021, 09:40:17 am
Hello Ye Old Country Men

Well I am Spooky (a Lesro Javelin) and I have been transported To Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) !!!

Penalty, life for speeding on the Thames !!!!

They only got me because my heart (motor) kick the bucket .

So after the judge( customs) cage me on one of those wing things !!

I arrived to the cold of Tasmania in they Winter.

Well the prison officer( my new owner) kick started my heart .

He decided for a new brushless heart( 3648-1450kv), a big pulse controller(120Amp ESC) and new blood ( Turnigy Bolt 4S 5000mah 140C ).

Also a lovely new drive line with a nice new water stirrer( 42mm 2blade CNC prop).

I am liking this chap already !!!

He said they had one lockup( LOCK DOWN ) and they all did not like it, so did not have any more !!!

Post you all soon.

Regards

Spooky

Another Javelin !- they are getting more popular with the classic powerboat restorers - we already have two on the Javelin thread.

There were a lot of Javelins and Streakers (same boat) sold, so there must be a lot of them out there that are old enough to be needing new homes.

The much rarer Rapier shares the same hull, but was never as popular-and so sold a lot less.

Good to see more Javelins about. Spooky has traveled far and suffered a damaged nose in transit? Still I managed to do similar just dropping mine in the garage  >>:-(

Would be great to see running on the water....

My Javelin has stopped being renovated for a number of months but hopefully work will recommence soon.

This will be the first Javelin thread written by the boat and not the owner, so it will be good to hear from Spooky on a regular basis to find out how he is enjoying his new life in Tasmania  %)

Hi Lads

Well in for a nose(bow) job and a cleanup.

My old ticker(motor) is out and in the bin.

My new ticker requires a lot work to fit in, so all the old mount is out.

My new boss has found some very dodgy workings and a crack in my back(keel).

So I am getting book in for some major work, but in the mean time a lot of my bulkheads and stern are getting repaired.

Sorry one pic is a bit funny, I had to take off my specs !!!

Getting some new muscle( servo) for my new rudder.

At least a new rudder tube with oiler and bearings for a start.

The lads(boats) in the shed have been great and some wild stories floating around about their speed.

Old Speedy said he is not that fast and Big Crashie you all will get a cold shower from him if you all keep carrying on!!

Well I have had enough of this, I am heading to the house for so peace and quiet !!!!

Don't forget a nice bright easily seen sticker or paint strip on the bottom of the hull to indicate the boat is upsidedown !

But seriously, nice job !

Post some pictures if it scooting about on the water when it's being used.

Like the color scheme on your boat.

Oh boy, he is looking the part and is feeling very elegant !!!

Hopefully we do the club's first Double Dip Day this week so the Doc can tick this one of the bucket list.

As for me self, I am fully kitted up ready to hit the water.

We both have a Spring in our rudders and ready for the canal.

Hopefully some pics and video soon.

Hi fellow country boats

Well me old built shed mate hit the water on a lovely Spring sunny day.

Ye old Wavemaster cruised around and had a great time for first day in the water.

I said old mate that motor has to go !!!!

I will talk to the Doc and see was in his box of bits ??

Well for me, it was not a great day.

A nice cruising speed with big turns !!!

The Doc up the juice with a 4S Lipo and was getting cracking along.

But my top drive line bush over heated and me motor stopped  !!!

Luckily I drifted a shore and the Doc had to do the walk of shame to get me.

So after inspection, oiling was not the problem and we are still working on it.

But all in all, it was a great day with warm water, sunny day and 20C plus day.

Regards All

Hi Gentleman

Well the Doc replaced the the uni joint with a solid 5M to 3/16" coupling and top me up with oil.

Had a run on 3S fuel, but, not cutting it.

Replaced with a big 4S fuel and Oh Boy, I was flying !!!

I was fast on the first run , well over me old IC days.

On the second run, I was up on the plane and it was like one of those new turbo things kicked in !!!

I rocketed down picking up super speed and sitting flat straight on the water (well I think I was still on the water).

Me old shed mate Wavemaster is happy with his new motor.

He thinks he the fastest Kruiser in the south .

Also the new little lad, Sea Scout had to have a crack and put on a good show.

Dam noisy little fellow, but Doc is having a look at that .

Signing Off

Spooky

Hi All Ye OLD Country Men

Well out in the sunshine today and 23C .

Nice mid tide and the water was cool.

The Little Diva had first crack the water and show some nice flighting runs !!!

I slipped in and after a check to see my new water cooling system was working.

Off I went with a dam quick run before kicking me turbos and I really showing off !!!

On returning to shore I had some water under me motor.

On testing it was found a very small hole in my cooling coil.

The Doc has another one line up hopefully for next week.

Hello Mr. Zooma

I feel like a spring chicken !!!!

A sleek little Princess has arrived in the shed from the old country.

It's set me rudder wriggling !!!!!

That cheeky Waverider was straight over to her and talking in Nor-Star English !!!

When I popped over and bowed, she said she was a bit shabby dressed .

I said the Doc will clean you just fine and you will look very elegant!!!!

Must say she has nice lines and being a gentleman I did not ask her age !!!!

I am going to raid the Doc's parts bin for some bits !!!

I found a whole new drive line with a lovely shiny prop, a new solid coupling on a 3648-1450kv motor for starters.

I think I am love.

Thanks Harry, thats brilliant. Cheers.
Turns out the cockpit side spacing I had decided on from measuring photos was only half a mm out from the measurement you just gave me. Amazing how close I managed to get it from some photos, I measured loads of them though, then a rough guess at the end, ha ha😁

Glad you got all the reference info you need Andy - and sorry I wasn't around earlier this week to help when you first asked.

Your side elevation looks good and more like a Javelin than your first orange man sized replica did.

Good luck with your build - I look forward to following your build thread.
