Title: ACTion Power Distribution Board
Post by: Shipmate60 on October 23, 2007, 02:10:17 pm
My 1/72nd Scale Prinz Eugen has 3 shafts and motors.
So far I have 3 x ACTion Speed Controllers and an ACTion Mixer.
When ACTion (FLJ on here) produced the Distribution Board, I wanted one to keep all the electronics from the same manufacturer.
BUT
The new board wouldn't supply the power to 3 x MFA 800 motors. 2 would have to be connected via 1 15 amp fuse, this would be very close or just under the power required.
I gave Dave a pm on here last week and told him of my problem.
SOLUTION
A power Board configured for 3 x 15 amp outlets arrived today in the post.
Now that is what I call service.
Many thanks Dave, this will tidy my wiring up so well!!

Fitted this board this morning.
I removed the black wire from the ESC's as recommended and ran her up.
Worked perfectly first time.
Just got to hard wire it in.
Just a thought though, this set up would be ideal for the "Build the Bismarck - a "Hachett" job?", you could use 2 or 3 shafts.
I have no interest in ACTion other than a delighted customer.

I ordered an ACTion mixer which arrived with a wealth of information. I was very impressed with the 'extra' info Dave supplies such that after a few emails, this morning I've purchases the P92 distribution board and 2 P80 ESC. All this will go in Drumbeat now the buildis complete (yippeeeeeeeeee!).

I'd have no hesitation in recommending Dave, Liz and ACTion to anyone.

Bob / Dave
As you now have three outputs fused with 15a each is the primary fuse the same or has this been upgraded to match ?.

The mod I did for Bob involves adapting the board to use the original "central" fuse as the dedicated fuse for the new "group". As the board only has space for three fuses I provided Bob with an in-line fuseholder to form the lead between the board and the battery +ve i.e. what he has are three groups of 15A each and an overall 25A provided in the battery lead. We can't upgrade the primary fuse beyond 25A as the terminals are rated only to 28A each.
Hope that makes sense!

Now I have the new board all it took was to completely rip out all the fitted electronics, enlarge the base they sit on and start hard wiring in for the last time.
It has been cold out in the garage, so the varnish is taking an age to dry, so hard wiring what I can outside the model.
So far everything is wired in and connected except for the battery and motor connections.
I an going to attach to the board with Velcro or sticky pads.
The 3 speed controllers are sticky padded together, as is the mixer, receiver and new board (mounted on 1/4 inch square balsa)
I have included some pics so you can see for yourselves how this Distribution Board tidies up the wiring.
