Appreciate pretty much the idea of specially dedicated thread.
I also do have smthng to share...
Very rare PB1 engine with scotch yoke.

Engineman, thank you for sharing, that really is a thing of beauty, hopefully it will find its way into a project to be steamed

Hello!
Below are 2 PB2. (+/-4.5cc)
Notice that the one one the left has a reverse made by rubbing an O'ring with a dented piece of bras : not very efficient.
Does anybody knows how to name the type of reverse?
The right one has the Maudslay reverse. The most reliable allowing the adjustment while the engine runs.
Cheers!

Hello, the PB2 engine is not 4,5 cc but aprox. 2,7 cc (9,5 mm bore and stroke).
The earlier engine has a slip eccentric reversing gear. i don't know it it has any other name.

Hello Carlin!
Sorry ! You are absolutely right !
I should have check on my catalogue first! <*<
Thanks for the correction.
I don't know either how to call the reverse with the O'Ring. May be a British fellow will tell us the exact name for our files ! :-)
Regards.
From 1994. Engine MHB 3/8'' bore and stoke = 2.6 ccDouble acting, slide valve engine.Maudslay type gear foreword and reverse.

Here are some pics of the PB4 - Slightly mis-named as it was created by Peter's son - Martin Baylis.
It was made as an experiment. Peter and his partners, Brian Marten & Liz Howes really thought it was
a great idea, but it never made it to production.
Here is short test on steam.

This particular quadruple engine (even being exactly an experimental one) was built for quite specific purpose/goal indeed - to propel 1" to 1' replica of 62' torpedo boat from USS MAINE. Sadly, this TB project was never completed in full...
And for sure Brian Marten is aware - what for it was designed and built...then it is quite curious to read about some 'thoughts' and 'ideas'...
Within the last ~20 years this experimental purpose-built unique engine has changed quite a lot of owners...it is worth to mention that the previous owner was really on the right track - while having in mind to complete the TB project initiated by MH&B...
Regretfully...this did not happen, and the engine was sold again...
Pretty much hope that the present owner while being recently informed in detail what kind of engine he owns - will be clever enough...and not use racehorse for ploughing...

Jim, now you know what boat you need to build for your engine! And to source that twin boiler combo as well. O0
Happy holidays!
