 .Well wasn't far out in my Post in Smart meters
Not long before your smart meter tells you to turn things off or else.                                     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMagvdqlF9c (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMagvdqlF9c)

No "or else" about it. It will just be shut down!We had solar panels installed.  When we had them connected and got a discount, our off peak water rate was disconnected without anyone telling us or coming on the property!

very interesting, and highlights the fact that the current infrastructure is insufficient for the demand that will be placed upon it with addition EV charging

Time to stop building new housing I guess...  {:-{
.

 I was watching an EV video where the owner mentioned the fact that they got their off peak power for free.
It was a contract with his local power company, but he also had higher peak power rates. That being said, he
may have been one of those customers that suffered $3000 electricity bills during the Texas freeze, and power outages.
 .

Smart meters in the USA are supposed to measure credit for power put into the grid if a home owner has Solar or other
power generation made on the property. However not all states in the USA offer payment for surplus power generation.
