Hi all, another scale question.


2 masted fishing lugger 39 inches long


How do I figure out what scale it would be?

What are you working from, or to?

Do you have a model that is 39" long, and are trying to work out what scale it is?
Or
Do you have a photo or a plan of a boat, or an actual boat you want to model, and want to know what scale to work to, so that the finished model will be 39"?

If the 39" is the length of the hull, then, according to Wiki, 38ft was a common size so it could be 1/12 which, again, would be a common scale for a model. The width on these was just over 12ft....... :-)

Most of my fellow boaters don't crew their boats anyway.

6inch action figures are 1/12th scale, and often found in thrift shops. All you need is to glue the limbs in position and cover them with some Tamiya putty or thin Miliput to make sou'westers. 

Something like this chap - he looks like he could hoist a few fishboxes:
