Title: New Modern Trawler Information Wanted please
Post by: RichM on April 12, 2023, 07:01:25 pm
I'm thinking ahead to my next build, and something that i've always wanted to do, is build a giant scale modern trawler, something like the 'Fruitful Bough', 'Reliance' or 'Ardent'. Anything along those lines, but BIG!
I know about the plans from Sarik for the 'Ardent', but thats only 1/32 scale so not that big.Could those plans be blown up? By who/Where?
Does anyone know of any other plans or even a hull/s thats available please? Any links to them?

When I say big, I mean 1/24 scale - 1/16 or 1/12 scale or bigger.
Something like the modern single or twin riggers in the current Scottish fleet.
Cheers

Not sure about drawings, but I live in a fishing port, and we do get a lot on the slips apart from the harbour, any pics you need let me know, who knows you might get an idea...... O0

Any print shop should be able to blow to any size you want, my experience of building bigger than usual (5-6") long with a 20" beam, a fishing boat that really took my fancy. Made the plug and hull with the comments of "is this a bath, etc". Took it to the lake and used a car battery and all my lead and it was still like a pea on a drum. So a junior member was installed midships and moved back and forth till the waterline looked about OK. I said "when you get home hop on the scales and get weighed" Oh thats OK I weigh 7 stone. Then the logistics started to just a little too much. Shame, it was a lovely hull. the mould now resides at Orion mouldings. So please think about weight before you start your build as Tugs and fishing boats are ballast greedy. nemesis
