Title: When I was young !
Post by: KBIO on May 21, 2023, 03:09:10 pm
Hello !
I found this on the  friend 's forum and I share it with you.
This is a modest part of my fleet when I was young and it shows that when the things are going alright , sailing is boring !  {-)

But the real reason why I post today is that I am looking for the drawing of the oil stick of the Stuart SUN engine.
At least , if someone could tell what is the level of this oil in the oil sump ?
Thanks a lot ! ok2

Hi, whilst I do not have a drawing of the dipstick for the Sun Engine, I do have a dipstick, so here is a photo of the dipstick from my Sun Engine. I assume low oil is none on the dipstick and that as long as there is 1cm of the dipstick with oil on it, all is fine. In practice, when running on steam, the oil becomes emulsified (white and sticky). Hopefully there is enough information in the photo for a dipstick to be made.

 :-)) Thanks Dave !
I also think that too much oil is not good for the engine efficiency. Above all those single effect engines let some steam passing by the pistons.
I have one with segments and one without segments. Both of them let the steam passing by but the one with segments does show so much "mayonnaise" !
I need to find (o have made) some segments for one.
Have a good day ! ;)
