Title: Hobbywing Quickrun 1060 speed controllers
Post by: 17-09 on August 11, 2023, 09:50:51 am
Hi, This topic was posted over a year ago by Tug fanatic but his question was not really answered satisfactorily I feel. What is the difference between the Black Gold and Red Hobbywing 1060 speed controllers? I have used the red bodied controllers and find them very good with good slow speed and very smooth control. I now wish to use them in a large lifeboat model with speed 600 motors which should be well within the capacity of these controllers. Why are the red versions almost twice the price of the black version? Also in their adverts they mention almost all types of models they can be used in apart from Boats! why? Thanks to all 17-09 Alan.....

Like you the red ones are the real deal and work great.
I have a couple of the black ones which work well, but I did have one go up in smoke the first time I tested it !!!
I think the black and gold ones are copies by other people !!!!

An alternative to these 1060 esc's i have recently come across is Radiolink now have a true 90amp brushed esc on the market that works very well for slow speed and can handle a pair of mfa850 motors on full chat, plenty of rock crawler videos and rc car related testing on youtube too.
