Not sure why folk can't just start their own threads rather than post uninvited on someone else's I don't see it on other forums as its normally in the rules or am I the only one that gets bugged by it on here.

What types of pictures?
My model of your build, on someone else thread? {:-{

It seems when someone is doing a build thread you get a "here's mine" picture I had refrained from posting on the forum for quite a while but thought maybe it had stopped but after starting a thread about 5 posts in there it is.

Ah, OK.... if that annoys anyone, we can easy split the topic into too threads on request. :-))
( I think it's a thing from modern social media ... free for all,... it should be seen as a compliment .... )

If it is someone posting photos of there own build on a build thread then I see it as helpful to the original poster. Showing how others have done things can often help the builder in planning ahead. A thread where the only comments are "GREAT BUILD", "GOOD WORK" etc comes across as rather sterile.

If it's the guy in Japan just wishing you success and showing his in flight where's the harm
-
It's normally good manners on a forum to ask if you can post pictures on someone else's thread, it's OK though if that's the norm here I'll not bother and just my pictures on other threads :-))
-
If it is relevant I can not see the problem, if the OP does not like it then they can just ask, I see it as a general conversation, if you start any real conversation people have opinions , nothing new here..
-
I know what you mean Dave but it does depend on the context. I dont mind other folks posting about their builds if it is relevant and/or shows another way of doing things or it has an interest angle to it. Also if they are regular posters who you have a conversation with.
But I do get irritated, and it happens more on Facebook, when folks post things that aren't relevant and look at me photos. Especially when they make some statement based on little knowledge that they think I need to know.
It can be a fine line sometimes and I think there is a difference between ones own build threads and other threads.

A German forum that I keep an eye on has 2 linked threads for a build. The first is for the exclusive use of the builder and the second contains al the comments, helpful suggestions, photos of other models etc.

Forum like this one tend to be regulated by what at times seem to be unfairly policed by the Muddy raters BUT, if you post on Fussbak and Why tub and other such like "Social" media dustbins, User beware.

Need to be careful of putting folks off posting though, the forums are a lot quieter than when I took up the hobby 6 years ago.
