I am in the early stages of organising 2 events in 2024, which will need Mayhems help.
Shuttleworth hold 2 rc aircraft events in 2024
May 18/19
July 27/28
Shuttleworth are keen to expand this to include all rc models,, and O am.organising the boat side. We have access to the lake for sailing, plus a static display area dedicated to boats.
At present, they have aircraft, rc cars, and boats, and are looking at truck, tanks and possibly railways.
I'm looking for clubs or individuals to display and sail at the event, be it for 1 day or both days.
All boats welcome to display, and im hopefully going to get agreement to see if we can run ic boats (don't hold me to it yet though!)
Any one wishing to display must bring their own table and gazebo etc!
This would be a free event for the public
There is camping available
More info will be posted in January/February.

Hi Pete,
The events advised are run by ModelAIR and are major annual gatherings for the aero modelling community covering RC flying, free flight models, radio control assist and control line flying. It is good they are being extended to include other modelling disciplines. I have conducted a quick review with some of our regular sailors and there is support for this. Accordingly, the Peterborough Area Model Boat Club members look forward to taking part in both events and will provide their own gazebo and tables etc.

Its down the B658 before the village of Old Warden, off of the A1 at Biggleswade.The museum is well signposted from the A1 and well worth a visit itself.

It's a lovely venue. Used to visit some of the aero shows there, both fullsize and model.

There are 2 sections, static display and sailing area. There is a large walking distance between the 2 areas, but I am hoping to have 2 display areas,and possibly some transport to help move models (electric golf carts!)

Ok, thanks to those clubs that are showing interest, especially as north Weald and Southern are now dust for this year!
I now need clubs to specify which date, if not both they can attend, and if possible, number of peeps, whether static, sailing or both!
I would like to extend an invitation to any other clubs or individuals who can attend.
The hope is we will have a static display area on the flightline and a live sailing display on the lake about 200m away

The Peterbrough club intend to attend both weekends with between 2-6 people on each occasion. Will provide our own tables, chairs and gazebo.

Model Boat Association Dover wish to attended the Shuttleworth Show on the 18th &19th May .There will be four member attending with Two 3X3 meter gazebos.

Sorry, camping is extra at £20 per night.
Thank you so much for expressing interest in supporting the ModelAir Wings, Wheels & Water event weekend here at Shuttleworth on Saturday 18th/Sunday 19th May.
Can I introduce myself as your main point of contact at this stage as we finalise all the details.
Currently we are collating all interested clubs and working on the site plan.
We are hoping to build this event in to a ‘must attend’ for all RC clubs, enthusiasts, traders and become a firm date on all RC calendars.
You will see on our website (link to the May date below) that we do have another RC weekend on the 27th/28th July, both these weekends are FREE for the public to attend.

Hi klunk, is there any more info on the site plan i.e. where the model boats will be displaying from and whether we can display from our caravans or is just from gazebos.

At present displays are from gazebos, camping is a seperate area.
Ww have a boating carpark, between the lake and display area. I'm hoping Shuttleworth will be sending out the final email regarding camping, carparking and display areas with the next 10 days.

Ps just turn up on the day to exhibit anyway, i will deal with it. On the plus side, model boats have a dedicated parking area!! I will be there lunchtime Friday to set up everything.

High of 20 today. Misty but clearing.

I would welcome a report on the first day of the event.
I am contemplating a Sunday visit but as it is a 250ml round trip I would appreciate some actual knowledge of the event.

Well, a first day report as requested!
Overcast, with a few spots to start, but cleared to be a very nice day. A very good turnout of clubs, Stevenage, Dover, Peterborough, luton, welwyn, model hovercraft, Wicksteed. I'm sure there was another, but cannot remember! Most of the show was cobbled together on the day, but it wwnt very well, with over 100 boats on display. A good amount if second hand gear on sale, especially as the show is primarily and model aircraft show, but plenty of boat stuff and radios at decent prices! Upwards of 50 boats on the water over the first day eith Handy Andy spectacularly flipping his uc boat during and afternoon demo run!
Lots of sailing boats out as it a good yacht lake. I think everyone enjoyed the first day. If you are coming on Sunday, tell the entrance person you are midel boats, and they will direct you a dedicated boaters carpark towards the lake.
Hopefully, sunday will be even warmer, but I suspect quieter public wise!

Twas a much busier day on the Sunday. Park management are very happy with the event overall, and very impressed with the low aspect organisation we had! Figures seem to be double last year for the same event on the Saturday, and even higher for the Sunday!

hi A excellent venue and the makings of a great event in the future combined with others model hobbies plus interesting things for the the family.The next event is planned for the 27th 28th July with the support of model boat clubs and individual model boaters and the support from the trade this has the prospects become a major event on the model boat calendar. more update to follow. The numbers were well up on Saturday and good weather, as a regular attendee of mayfly, I would say the numbers were ten fold on last year and 4x the amount of traders , all in all it was a great show with loads to see , even though we had to pay for camping the campsite was well run and organised with a proper warden.
