Via email to Mayhem ....
Dear Martin,
I hope this message finds you well. My name is Boris MacKey and I am reaching out on behalf of Rehab 4 Addiction, a UK-based addiction helpline in Merseyside.
I just finished reading your page about model boat clubs found at https://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/links/links_clubs.htm, and I particularly enjoyed the comprehensive list of clubs provided. It's great to see such a dedicated resource that helps enthusiasts easily find and connect with their local communities. This aspect certainly enhances the hobby's accessibility for newcomers and seasoned builders alike.
I would like to propose that you consider linking to a complementary resource on my website, https://www.rehab4addiction.co.uk/country-wide/rehab-merseyside, from this particular page on your website (https://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/links/links_clubs.htm) i.e. alongside the resources you already have listed on this page.
This would provide several benefits to your readers, particularly those who may be struggling with addiction or mental health issues in Merseyside.
Firstly, Rehab 4 Addiction offers a wealth of resources and information about addiction and mental health, which could be invaluable to those in need. Secondly, we provide a helpline that offers immediate assistance to those struggling with addiction in Merseyside, a service that could be life-saving for some of your readers. Lastly, we offer a comprehensive directory of treatment centres throughout the UK, making it easier for those in need to find help near them.
As we approach Summer, it's important to remember that this can be a particularly challenging time for those dealing with addiction and mental health issues. Many people feel more vulnerable during this period and may be in desperate need of the resources and support that Rehab 4 Addiction can provide.
By linking to our website from this page, you would be providing a lifeline to these individuals, offering them easy access to the help they need during a critical time.
I believe that this collaboration could make a real difference in people's lives, and I hope you will consider my proposal.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best regards,
Boris MacKey

Very deep me thinks

Agree with Phil, you don't know where this might lead and the message is rather vague on that.
I would just ignore it.

As posted by others, this could become a nightmare

Steer clear, jagged rocks ahead.

Hi Martin,
I would give this a very wide berth, with no disrespect to anybody suffering mental health or addiction problems form experience working in the prison system for twenty years (I did have keys by the way) this could turn into a can of worms especially should a club be visited by some of the "allegedly" recovering drug/drink addicts and something untoward occurring. This is only my opinion.
Regards, Pete. :-)) :-)) :-))

Addiction is a terrible mental condition, having support to overcome it is always a good thing provided it does work for the individual affected, the offer is only good for those who reside in the area mentioned, so would be no good to those who live elsewhere, so the link would only be helpful for a select few.
In our 'HOBBY', our addiction is worsened by the shutting of the local model shops, the reluctance by local authorities to cater for a now 'NICHE' group, and the rise of the only tech people want to get involved with being that found on the personal communicators (phones). %)

One last comment from an external contributor....
Having just read the thread on mental health within Merseyside, to many people who suffer either addiction or mental health seldom want people to know of their plight as they feel that they have failed. That is the worst that they can do. I have suffered from depression and anxiety for many years due to problems that developed during my years teaching and those same problems manifested in to me having to retire early from the profession, and i thank god that I had family AND friends who would listen to me when i was down and depressed. Model boat building and sailing was one big release in my life, other than my family who all knew of my illness, and Yes, it was and is an illness, that comes and goes but never goes away. I HAVENT READ BETWEEN THE LINES AND THOUGHT 2 AND 2 MAKE 5 as it seams some posting on that thread and would urge that members don't scoff and sneer, and if any member of mayhem want help from that or other groups then they should approach them, and not to be embarrassed about telling others that they ARE depressed and suffer other mental problems. I am not afraid to admit of my problems, just as i don't cover up my problems with the recent cancer scare, or obesity, and neither should anyone be in that situation where they need to hide their own mental health problems. I am probably too late for you to publish this on that thread, but I feel that anyone who needs help with this very acute and fast rising illness, then they can do worse than check out such organisations before dismissing them out of hand without first checking them out. After all depression is a world wide illness, not just parochial to a small area like Merseyside. Lastly may I wish all those that do suffer from depression and anxiety all the best, let it out into the open, and don't bottle it up. you will feel better just for doing that. I find it helps to be out in the open about mental health and the more people realise that and let it out instead of bottling it up as a taboo thing the more people will listen and open up.....and that is the first stage of dealing with it....as I found all those years ago.

"Mayhem recognises that mental health is an important and prevalent issue. This is a link that some members might find helpful. However, remember that Mayhem is not a suitable place to deal with either physical or mental health issues. The link above is a place where people can get dedicated help"
