hi all
im now onto gluing stiffening into my hull and looking for advice on which glue to use and where to get it
ive used araldite on my shafts and rudder posts but its pricey for the amount i would need to fit stiffening and deck so wondering if theres a bulk option or cheaper option with same results

I use superglue for stringers and stiffeners to hull.
Epoxy the deck to the hull stringers and wood glue to the stiffeners if deck is ply.
Car body filler for gaps in deck to hull.
It might seem a faff but i prefer relying on 3 different types of adhesive on my decks.

i thought superglue may not be strong enough if it takes a knock etc between the wooden stringers and the fibreglass hull , could i get away with just supergluing the plastic deck onto the stringers too ?

You might but superglue does have its limitations.
It is water soluable and dries quite brittle, there is a superglue mixed with rubber.
You will need to rough up the contact surfaces to allow any glue to adhere properly.
I still prefer epoxy resin on the stringers with the deck taped down and inverted so any spillage is on the underside of the deck and not inside the hull.

thank you ill bite the bullet and just use epoxy on it all as i dont think id trust anything else

Remember to rough up both surfaces to give the epoxy a good key.
Poundland sell a good epoxy for a pound good for smaller jobs and gried hard with no residue.

I use gel coat to fasten any thing to a fibreglass hull. Formers, stringers, beams and motor mounts and it loves wood. nemesis

That’s the first I’ve ever heard anyone use gel coat as a glue. Doesn’t seem like an awfully good idea as it’s very brittle.
