Title: Underside of deck
Post by: Paul.D on August 25, 2024, 07:45:52 am
Some advice please...

I am buildng a Vic Smeed Star Baby - the hull is complete (and filled with polystyrene foam as I've seen a couple of boats sink at our local pond) so it's time to fit the deck. The deck is ply which I assume ought to be waterproofed on the underside before fitting.

Plan A was to epoxy the whole deck on the underside and then fit it. The epoxy thus both waterproofing the underside and sticking it to the hull.

Plan B is to pain the underside of the deck and then epoxy it to the hull.

Any advice which is better please?

Sticking epoxy to paint not a good idea.

Epoxy the whole underside of the deck as you put it on, water-proofs and sticks at the same time.
