Hello everybody,
When I sail with my ferries such as Bretagne, Barfleur and Mont Saint Michel, something is missing...a pilot boat.
I was able to visit Cherbourg 3
So, I've decided to make one at the same scale: 1/100 as the rest of my ferries . So, length will be 14,8 cm.
I've made a plaster mold and after that I've used light fiber glass for the hull

Super boulot :-))

Hello,
At this size, it' s hard to display electronic receiver, motors, and rudders. So, I've taken some part of micro chinese R/C micro boat. It sails with an 3.7 v, 100 mAH batteries.
To turn, I reduce speed on one motor. Reverse is not power full. Propellers has been made in brass, diameter is 4 mm (thanks brother)

Hello,
So putty has been sanded. First layers has been sprayed with airbrush even surface are small.

Hello,
So, painting is finished. After that, I've sprayed few varnish coats. I've found some decals letters on website, with height from 2 mm to 4mm.
I've made another sea trial in a cooking dish. The pilot boat still a little bit to heavy. I'll replace the 3.7 v 100 mAH battery by a 3.7 v 50 mAH battery.
Weight is the major problem.

Hello,
Most of brass pieces are 0.3 mm thickness. I've usued an airbrush to paint these. A brush applies too thickly

Hello,

Hello ,
I like to represent boats as I see them. They are not so "clean" as they leave the shipyard. I use the weathering technic ,very known in tank and aircraft model world.
So, I've added some green light pigment on bridge. For anchor, I've sprayed aluminium color, chipping effect and black. When it was dryed, with a toothpick, I scratched the black colour.
The model is ready for next step, sea trial...

Hello,
So this morning, it was the first "sea" trial. Speed was good, It could turn easily left and right. The small diameter propellers easily get stuck in the small pond weeds.
Next trials, night sailing....

Wow, that turned out great. Well done.
