Title: Dragon Foilers - anyone tried one?
Post by: MattyB on April 16, 2025, 05:42:51 pm
Has anyone tried one of these foiler conversions for the Dragonforce models (https://rcfoilsailing.com/collections/dragon-foiler)? They are very blingy in CF so are  going to be very spendy to get to the UK from NZ with a sticker price of just over £400 +all the import dutiesfor the 65 version, but they do seem to perform really well (video) (https://youtu.be/tw2c1y8A0E0?si=WkfNL1AAK86668cm). I love Sail GP and the AC72s of the current generation in the Americas Cup so one of these really appeals once I have got used to sailing my monohull 65 this summer.

sorry, but they would have to be half that price before i even look at them...  which may be why no-one is talking about them.

Compared to the composite Rc gliders I used to fly that is relatively cheap but I do agree if they made a 3d printed or fibreglass version with some additional carbon reinforcement I think they’d be more tenable for those overseas. I have just messaged them to suggest this.

I am just saying the original boat is $300 US, and is blow molded plastic.  anything better than that as an accessory is way overkill, in every way.  I don't think the manufacturer understands the target audience for the original boat.
