Just a random thought. Has anyone modified a vape/E-cigarette to make smoke in models?
-
you might not have heard whilst working in foreign climes but only 10 days ago it was anounced by the GMC, The General Medical Council
that all forms of vapes tested over a period of some months, have all shown to be more toxic and virilant in the production of cancerous and other toxins than the use of tobaco and any derivatives that tobaco can do to the human boy.
Not only are vape liquids of all those tested more harmful to the body, it also produces those toxins in the body that cause such things as cancer, and mutations of unborn children in the femail tested, but it produces those toxins much quicker.
I do hope that this doesn't catch on in model boat sailing for everyones sake, as the vapor expelled to a 3rd party is also NOT imune.
I have never smoked in my life but have hung around with mates who have smoked heavily, and 3 years ago came down with cancer of the thyroid and throat, so please do think before vaping or making your model a vaper.
All the best, its not a nice world out there at times. :(( :-))

What modifications would they need? I'm thinking maybe putting one inside a flue and supplying air to the base via one of those tiny centrifugal blowers so that the airflow passes up and over the vape. Seems easier than trying to introduce an air supply into the unit via a pump and tubing. If you want to run it off the main battery voltage you're better off just finding some nichrome wire and making your own smoke unit.

Would a modified vape leave an oily deposit on the model in the same way that many oil based smoke makers do?

Thanks DocMartin
This video is a really elegant and compact solution. The 3D printing of the mounting bracket would be beyond me, but I could easily fashion the same thing out of wood. I also like the use of tiny rare earth magnets to mount the main components.
