Title: Fast Electric
Post by: Stuart.Mc on June 23, 2025, 09:17:15 pm
Hi Guys, I am hoping that somebody can offer me a bit of advice.  I am looking for a fast electric to race that must be 4s, fibre glass, carbon or kevlar construction and self righting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

To a specific rule set?

I guess a mono if it's to be self righting?

Sorry, yes it is mono and a maximum of 4s. Those are all of the rules.

So is there a run time requirement? a minimum number of laps? calm / rough water?

I'd look for a mono 2 boat and go from there, mono 1 is normally up to 3s.

Lot of things can be changed / discussed depending on the usage. so giving your best description of usage will help...

I'd look at a mono 2 hull,

Depends how much you want to spend, build it yourself? buy rtr?

Something like this would be a good start point, it's self righting etc.

a proboat sonicwave would also do, might have to change the motor if running on 4s.

I don't unfortunately have any experience with more RTR boats

Having listened to lots of people much more knowledgeable than me I have settled on a Oxidean Dominator, 4s and 3670 2050kv motor to start with

I'd do some more research on oxidean marine boats,

He is definitely a interesting chap, you can buy pretty much all of his "made in USA" boats from the actual manufacturer here In Hong Kong...

This is the one he brands as a "dominator"

Stuart if you are uk based I'd recommend getting it touch with the guys at - NADs - The Northern home of Fast Electric model boat racing. (https://www.ampdraggers.co.uk/)

they will give you plenty of advice on what's best to go for.

you may not get much response this weekend as its the MPBA nationals.

There’s a big difference between his requirements and what they race at nads.

From what i've read from this thread, the only difference is the race time when compared to Mono 2.

they will be able to provide advice on the best hulls for racing in the mono 2 class most suitable motors, esc's, batteries props etc.

Huge difference planning for 6 min 30 compared to 3 mins,
This is closer to what the USA lot race.
