Hi Everyone,
Nice to be on board, can anyone shed some light on this tug currently showing on youtube here is a link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnmzM0rZOoM I think it is a kit but not sure?

Certainly has gone to some trouble, but if you watch the other vids from the same guy, you'll see some frightening (not to mention inconsiderate) tug driving, so I wonder how long it will look like it.

On topic, isn't this a model of a Chinese tug, rather than Japanese? I've seen it a few times, but can't remember the real name. If I remember and everyone else hasn't by then, I'll post it!

The general opinion from other sites discussions about that Youtube video / tug is that its either a scratch build or a VERY heavily modified RTR that is possibly only available in Asia.

Thanks, does anyone know of a kit that could be modified to resemble this/or a similar tug? I have been looking long and hard and found a similar tug here is a link http://www.tugphotos.co.uk/pages/vikingbank.htm (http://www.tugphotos.co.uk/pages/vikingbank.htm) I think this one could be the answer if a kit is able to be purchased?

umi posted this on another forum
WE FOUND THE TUG  O0 ;D {-) :D

So I did a search on TAI KOO, and rediscovered Scalespeed...
http://www.scalespeed.com/taikoo_en.htm

I say rediscovered, because back in 2002-3, I was looking at his RHS hydrofoil.
I asked about plans, and was told he only sold boats, so I asked the price for the Hydrofoil, and
never got a reply to any further queries.

Perhaps you will have better luck.

here is the e-mail from scale-speed  about the tai-koo
Dear Mr. Mark,
Thanks for your appreciate for our model boats! Glad to answer your enquiry!

All of our models are built by handicraft. The FRP models supplied by us are fine scale R/C ready to run boats. Maybe you have noticed that either their aspect details or their sailing performance are obviously superior to other ready to run boats.

Our models could include the motors, the speed controller, the servo, the three channels FM R/C transmitter and receiver ( The agonistic type is used for airplane model aerobatics 3- channels FM type. ), even the rechargeable NiMH battery packs, and the instruction CD.

Further more, for make sure the sailing performance of our products, our ready to run boats are passed seriously operational check. So either their aspect details or their sailing performance are as same as the pictures and video clips on our web site.

The Tai Koo tugboat you mentioned is a popular type, also her building course is heavy and complicated.

There are two different driving systerms for you to choice.
One, the two directly driving propellers and propeller shafts.
Another, the two Z-drives.
The two different driving systerms decides how excellent the maneuverability of Tai Koo is. Also in the handcrafts building process, the difficulty degree of the two different driving systerms are totally different. As a result, the tug with the two Z-drives is more expensive than the tug with directly driving propellers and propeller shafts.

Would you please tell me which kind of driving systerm is expected to build on your Tai Koo?

We would be glad to estimate freight charge to your home, if you would tell us your address and postcode- this information is needed by DHL.

Best wishes,
Yours sincerely, Simon Tang
