Title: Squires Model & craft Tools
Post by: sinjon on January 03, 2008, 09:07:07 am
Yesterday lunchtime I phoned an order to squires.

It arrived in the post this morning.

I make that at about 18hrs.

Bloody good.

Thats the usual standard from Squires - next day postal delivery, and if you phone your order theres usually a very friendly and efficient lady at their end of the phone line.  Excellent people to deal with.

Lucky me can just drive down there in under an hour, spend too much and recover by walking along the prom afterwards.... There's also a good model shop just five minute's walk from Squires as well so you can get just about all you might want down there in terms of general modelling materials and supplies.

Since expanding their premises, Squires now stock an even greater range than before. Aladdin's Cave as far as I'm concerned.

I am in total agreement, Squires offers an excellent service. I have been in their shop, as has been stated, a veritable Aladdin's Cave! My aunt lives just down the road, giving me two reasons to visit the area! O0 Most of my ordering has been by telephone though, and their delivery service is second to none, friendly, efficient and fast, and a free catalogue sent to you every year. Beat that!

Ken -

Funnily enough I didn't, I ordered some map pins, out of stock - not charged, will follow A.S.A.P.
However I did order a miniature Pin Pusher, and some 7mm brass pins. At the moment I am planking a Bluenose hull. Tried the ' Pusher ' this morning as soon as it arrived, brilliant, load a tiny pin, place the tip where you want it delivered, a gentle push, and your plank is secured. I just wish I had known about this tool five hulls ago!
It's a shame the hull is to be painted, could look sensational brass pinned and varnished.

I have only had a couple of occasions to use the mail order service of Squires, but it was superb. If I need anything in the near future I will see them on their stand at Brighton Model World between 15th and 17th February. Squires sponsor this event.

Gave in to temptation and visited Squires today. Just wanted some Plasweld really but having taken a basket it seemed a shame not to fill it...... :embarrassed:

Their Electronics catalogue isn't out yet - delayed.

Hi All

I know its an old thread but...

Has anybody got any idea if Squires is going to reopen there site. Very difficult ordering goods on phone with no catalogue for a reference  number

I asked about this when I was in there about a month ago. I was told that they hope to have the website up and running by Christmas. In the meantime the references in the old catalogues are good if you still have one.

They seem to be doing quite a lot to reorganise the premises so it seems to be a work in progress. If you are lucky enough to be able to visit it is still an Aladdin's cave so make sure your bank balance is healthy!

Cheers Colin

I have asked about site since it went down but they keep saying, soon it'll be up and running. Hopefully by Christmas its a goer

Lost the old catalogue moving up here but I'll talk to them a week on Saturday 19th.  They're at the Ayr model railway exhibition. see if he has any old  ones.

Only had one item sent wrong to date and it was dealt with immediately.

I must repeat to myself  I only want a centre pop, centre pop, centre pop. l.o.l
