Hi everyone.
Has anyone had any experience of the Krick steam engine victor, good or bad as I am considering buying one.
Thanks

Martin,
I think the one you have there from Cedges site is the wrong one, that one had enough trouble turning itself over, never mind moving a boat along, I gave mine away after the boiler turned into a sieve (brass and butane/propane fumes don't mix too well).

Since the demise of Cheddar, Krick have come up with one of their own designs from somewhere, very similar to the Puffin setup. But does look a bit iffy on build quality on the engine and boiler design, plus add another £100 for gas tank and charger.

There are definitely better units than this for the price.

Hi,

it seems the Krick-engines are actually Regner-engines:

Good German quality for a nice price and cheaper if you buy directly from Regner . . .

Cheers, A!H.

If you can get it from Germany, a bargain. UK price, definitely not, grossly overpriced for what you are getting.

Looks like Treasure Island UK again showing its colours. Pile it on, British customers with think it is the normal price, and pay it.

Same problem here in Belgium, John, if we want to buy British stuff.
Lots has to do with transportation costs I suppose . . .
It helps if you know someone who travels a lot, alltough they seem to be scarce (in my case anyway :-\).

Hi A,
I think over £200 transport costs is a little on the steep side.

Methinks someone is being a bit greedy.

Archibald,

Direct from Regner - 533 Euro (about£400)

UK , with gas tank and filler about £700+ (about 940 Euro)

Looks that the only difference between the two, UK one has wood cladding, and a different coloured chimney. Looks like the Regner one comes with a 'free' oil and water trap.

Why???????

Treasure Island UK indeed . . .

Alltough, if you would buy the Krick version here in Europe it would set you back for 830 Euros + 95 Euros for the gastank (688 £ total), which is included in the Regner version for 533 Euros (397 £). Same amounts as in the UK.  In my opinion ordering directly from Regner is the best option.
Cheers, A!H.

JoTIKa import Krick kits. The engines aren't mentioned on their website but they might be worth a call. I understand they will be introducing their own steam engines fairly soon.
