Title: Motors for Tugs

Hi  Has Anybody used MMM T24 12v & 24v motors and what are they like?
Also what's your view on Buehler 12v & 24v motors.
Your comments would be appreciated.

I run a buhler 24v motor in a 42 inch drifter. It revs fairly slowly, but on a 65mm prop gives way more than scale speed and uses very little current.

Be warned though, they are choosy as to which type of esc they run with, mine has an electronize and is ok with that. Also, dont try and run more than one using one esc, I tried and failed, see:

One thing I would say dont even go down thr buller route. MMM motors are far SUPERIOR

mmm t12 is a very nice motor if funds will allow using a pair in a hull at the mo still in testing in bath stage with 70mm thruster props but seem very smooth with lots of torque and not to power hungry

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the replies. The tug is 1/32 scale 40inches long with a 14inch beam.The MMM T24 motor is what I'm thinking of using driving 110mm Kort nozzle's x 2 and 2 speed controllers 25amp each.
Can anyone see a problem with this set up.

just being nosey but what tug is it and are you going to be tug towing with it?

Hi Ministeve,
The tug is an American pusher tug 1/32 scale 40inches long x 14inch beam.Running 110mm fixed Kort nozzles 2rudders & 4 backing rudders total 6 rudders just like the real thing all engine with a block of flats above it (3 decks). To get her down the water line it takes 5 12v 7ah batteries. However if I use the MMM T 24s 24v i will be using 4 batteries for power and one for auxiliaries. I will post photo's at a later date.

them rudders sound complicated but bet they work well looking forward to seeing some pics
