Its ok, I'm on a nostalgia 'trip'.
Many years ago, back in the mid 60's / early 70's, i remember long afternoons sat at Bournville Lake watching the RC Power boats after my Father and i had finished sailing the yachts.
The 'IN' thing in RC (IC) power boats at the time was a 'flattie' by SHG... almost an oblong (on plan) with the corners rounded out. I think they were Glass..
Anyone understand what i am talking about?... have pics?... drawings?... or maybe a hull gathering dust in the back of the workshop / shed / garage?...

For a really good nostalgia trip, you could do no better than a visit to our very own Martin's descriptions of how he began - all those years ago!!!

Stuart H? Grainger is still in business, although not in the racing hull side. The "flattie" was not terribly popular and came out before the Laser and Shadow. The hull competition in those days was not up to much with Ripmax selling a "Sportster" and a "Contester" with a heavily straked bottom with "turn on a sixpence" capability (according to the advert!) They were designed for the NAVIGA steering course - the "Christmas Tree" and the NAVIGA "Triangle".
John Stidwell was making some and a guy on the south coast (MRH?) was also doing quite a few. I remember having an "Ogee 40" with a Webra in it for early multi races.
Must be talking about my Grandad - I CAN'T be that old :'( :'( :'(
Danny (still racing - still losing) :D {-)

Yes, a Grainger production...
No, nothing like any of those pictured... they all have 'pointy' bow's...
Something like this... I think they came in a variety of 'sizes'.. 20, 40 and possibly a 60 size.
