:)The Model Boat Convention 2008 at The Centre Birchwood Business Park Warrington. The event will take place on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th August at the above location. Model Boat clubs and traders will also be in attendance. The location offers very good catering facilities, an excellent lake for sailing your models, close by car parking and a very modern and well liit building. If you would like to sell or purchase a model then a chandlery will be in operation again. Many models were on display in 2007, something for everyone to see and chat about. 2008 should be as good or even better. More details to follow via modelling press. O0

Just got back from Birchwood. A brilliant day plenty going on at the traders stands, the club stands and on the two ponds. There is no doubt this is the best and friendleist show in the Country. O0 O0

Lots of interests in the models on display,

Nice Pictures there , I was only able to make it on sunday but it was well worth the visit, weather was a bit ishy first thing but soon brightened up to be a fantastic day out, was nice to meet some fellow Mayhemers from a few of the other clubs, I had my favourite models but the standards from ALL clubs was exceptional. was well worth getting back home from France at 3am and then getting up at 9 to go to the show.
-
can I have some details on the R/V James Clark Ross, such as who owns it and what club he / she is in, looks a nice model
-
Hi Ghost , the ship was on the "The Ship Modelling Society" stand, Ron1 probably your best bet for further info. Hope this helps
-
Hi Folks,
I can only echo the above comments,, a great time was had by all, it was a real pleasure to meet some of you on hear, it is nice to put a face to a name, the atmosphere was one of pure relaxation and everyone was walking about with a cheery smile on their faces , great banter between the clubs and as has been said earlier fantastic models on display. I am sure the pictures will flood in as they have already started.
my regards to all O0

Even better than last year with many more superb models on show and owners happy to pass on tips to help other modellers.
Next year will be the 20th show and long may it continue.
Birchwood is a great venue with lots of free parking and easy access from various directions.
If you missed it this year make sure you get there in 2009

:)I couldn't agree more with Sub Driver. A good weekend for marine modelers at a great location. The weather was excellent which made the outdoor sailing even more enjoyable for participants and spectators alike. Model sailing took place both days with a wide variety of sailing craft on the water. The pool for the juniors was also kept busy. Trade support was very good and business seemed to be brisk. Lots of different models on static display which gave the visitors plenty to look at and comment upon. A chance to meet old friends and acquaintances and to meet up with other contributors to the Mayhem site. Nice to put a face to the name. Competition classes were very good with a high standard of modelling. I would like to thank the Mayhem site for the posts I have put on for the above show. Also a big thanks to the organizing committee for an excellent weekend. Would imagine more photographs to follow from other visitors. Hope to see you all again next year and possibly some new clubs.

Here, here!
Thanks Ron1 and The Long Build, great photos.
Lovely to see Jimmy Wood's CSO SEAWELL . In My Humble Opinion (IMHO) one of the best model boats EVER built.
-
Martin, indeed, the seawell is a georgeous model, and if it were mine, i'd be frightenned to take it out incase of it being damaged, there is sooooo much detail there.
-
Just a short video I took of some of the stands and a bit of lake action, I thought it might be easier than photographing every model.. It's not Brilliant but gives you a flavour of the day, also at the end is a small demonstration of the amphibious vehicle, which seems like something to have fun with.
I Will also put together a slide show of all the pictures I took should you have some time to kill, once I have edited them all.

Hope you enjoy it.

Yes I know I was working on it at the time you posted , thought I could insert it as a imbedded video so that it could be watched on this site rather than going to utube , the same as I have it on the Clubs website. Not happy about the image loss either on utube.
-
embedding dont work here, :(
-
Thanks Guys
Brilliant pictures, looks like I will have to get to that one next year.

In order to allow Youtube videos, embedded Flash has to be allowed which ( to website hackers ) is a bit like a walking around a gorilla cage with a banana necklaces!

Nice pics, a good looking show.
I Spy TOMBOLA's springer HMS Orion, (nice one Tom). O0 O0
