Problem with RC Switcher
-
Hi All,
I seem to have a problem operating smoke, lights & steam whistle via my action dual switcher.
The main motors are 12v 7amp with 2 ESCs & 2 bueler motors. The lights,smoke & whistle are operated via 6v 7amp .
The receiver is a futaba 5 channel with BEC.
The transmitter is a Robbe F14 dual stick, Dual stick operates both motors forward & reverse, the other stick works the rudder left to right and the switcher push the stickup up to put lights & smoke on latching.
Put the stick down momentary for the whistle.
The problem is when its on the lake it has a mind of its own switching on and off at will also i sometimes loose control of the boat. Can anyone point me in the right direction to resolve this problem

D42,
It doesn't sound like the switcher but your Radio "Glitching".
If the switcher is getting signal interference it wont operate correctly.
Have you tried a range check at home?
Are the motors suppressed?
All the usual things for Radio glitching?

ps seriously have you thought of checking in case that there is water inside the switcher,CHECK IT ASAP. it could be the cause!!!!

Hi D42,
From the sound of it, it is a radio problem - the fact that you lose control of the boat occaisionally suggests this is the problem. The switcher will be more affected than the motors or the rudder servos because these have far more inertia. They will hide more of the glitches than the switcher - though you may be able to hear the motor stutter as the boat sails.

ok I will admit it, had EXACTLY the same problem on my fireboat somehow water had got into the switcher and played absolute havoc with everything including loss of control check also that you have no water in your reciever. If water has got into either or just leave them in the airing cupboard for a few days and they will be fine, well mine are

If you have got water in the reciever or switcher, unless it was immersed in very clear water, I suggest that you always rinse out in tap water before drying out. If not you can build up contamination on the boards which will cause problems even if you just get a bit of damp in there.

How old is you F14 Tx, check the aerial connection/cable. Have you changed the original telescopic aerial for a rubber stumpy type one as range can be vastly reduced with these (it does state this in the instructions included with this aerial) if its an old set try spraying some electrical contact cleaner inside the collapsed telescopic aerial via the threaded hole using a thin tube, like you get with WD40 aerosols, to clean the section contacts.
