Via email to Mayhem...
Martin,
Thought you might like to see what can be done with a bit of research and some tender loving care.
The boat started out as the RED SEA FISHING SMACK.
The motor ,drive line and prop are exactly as purchased,as is the rudder servo.
A small amount ballast was needed to bring her down to her marks.
The inside of the hull is mouldead to fit a 6 volt 4.5amp battery so this is what I have used.
With tthis set up I am getting over a running time of 1 hour.
The on the water performance is great.
If anyone wants to see how the boat started out take a look on tthe Deans Marine web site under ARTR boats
some of the others are crying out for similar treatment.
The result of this is great model with all the hard work done for you!

She's a London registered inshore trawler , the original real world boat would be a Cygnus GM32 or similar so 1/2 a world away from the Red Sea i'm afraid.

REF COMMENTS ON MY CONVERSION OF DEANS MARINE A,R,T,R. BOAT
REGISTRATION LN is KINGS LYNN not LONDON witch is LO.
PROTOTYPE is a BELGIUM boat not a CYGNUS of any sort.

Hi
Just came accross this thread, as I would like to transform a Redsea into a britanny smack.
Very nicely done the VALERIE :-))

I like that boat a lot! :-))
I quite fancy building something like that myself, but don't know if I have the skills to do a conversion. What size/scale is it?

SCALE 1:18; LENGTH 503 mm; BEAM 205 mm
If you are a beginner in modelling, I think Redsea would be a good start. Although ARTR, there are a lot of possibilities to do extra detailling and with another colour scheme you could do something unique. Otherwise there has been a free plan in Modelboats Magazine December 2010 for something similar: a little shrimper.

According to Deans it is already assembled and painted. I'm looking for something to build (after my Assurance tug, if it ever turns up).
