Just a couple of shots of a pair of queens passing in mid Atlantic. Makes you realise just how the different hull forms behave in a long Atlantic swell
The QE2 only had four of her nine engines running.

Somebody had to ask it....how come you were on both liners at the same time?

Sadly I was on neither. A friend of mine was on the QE2 and sent me both shots.

i heard this put according to southampton port web sit QE2 was in on the 18th and left that day and QM2 and QV are in on the 21th and leave that day. I have been all over Cunard web sit and cant find any thing about 3 Queens in the port of Southampton.

HI was your friend on the bridge of QE2 to take that photo of QV. as i was on the QE2 and never saw that part of deck.

Hi John the QE2 came in Friday and is not going out again until she leaves for Iberia on 27th April 08 O0

The shot was taken from the bridge wing.

thanks Richard as i was not at work i went down to see her. Wow what a boat one of kind. I was hard to find a place to get some good shots of her.I think she in for service as several of her life boat are not on her.

You mentioned that the pics showed how different hull forms reacted. Fine. But from the pics I assume one of the Queens was going "with" the seas, and (I think) QE2 was going "into" it. If I am correct, then you are not relating "like with like". Just being a bit pedantic! Bryan.

On this occasion the two ships were crossing together and kept each other company. I believe the QV had to reduce speed as she was not handling the swell very well at all, as we can see.

My wife is off to Hythe on her way home from work tomorrow to photograph the 3 queens (She's a ship nut and has to pass our house to get there.)
If her photos are any good I'll post them on here tomorrow.

hi i was on the QE2 on that cruise Qv was only 300 to 500m away from us in the day time , so both ship got the same weather. We were only doing 20k as QV could not achieve full speed. Now think of this that photo of QV was taken in force 4 to 5 ,QE2 had force12 and survived with a few bent deck plates. How would QV cope , would not like to think but it would not be pretty. Note the distance from the bow to the bridge on QV comared to QE2

Well, as I think has been pointed out before, QE2 is an Ocean Liner, QV is a Cruise Ship although Cunard advertising would have you believe otherwise. Design wise, that makes quite adifference.

I've got a couple of shots of the QE2 taken in Dry Dock in '96 from below the bow in the dock bottom. She has a stunning looking hull and a beautiful bow.
I still think that after 40 years of service it is nice to see her retired gracefully rather than the horrendous end the Norway is suffering.

I took these photos on holiday last year at Flaam Norway, had a fantastic time on board.
